CEO/Founders Bio

Kevin A. Phillips is the CEO and Founder of KATLogic Inc., the parent company of MyMarineCorpsBall.com. Kevin was born in
Dallas, Texas and enlisted in the Marine Corps 17 June 1987 as a reservist
with ambitions to become a Marine Corps Pilot.
While in recruit training, Plt 3058 Lima Co 3rd Bn, he collapsed of dehydration
and experienced other medical issues preventing him from completing the
training and earning "The Title". He left the Marine Corps and after nine years
he realized he needed to fulfill his commitment to the Corps and to himself. He
again re-enlisted 24 Sep 1996 with a commitment to finish what he started.
Graduating Company Honor man (Plt 1037 Charlie Co 1st Bn) 20 December 1996 with the first company
to officially undergo the new Crucible training program on the West coast, he
was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. Upon completion of recruit
training and MCT, his first duty station was with Battalion S-1 Headquarters
Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego where he served as an
Administrator, Promotions and Awards Clerk. LCpl Phillips quickly earned a
reputation of being able to make things happen as they should thus earning the
respect of his leadership and peers.
In June 1998 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and spent time as a Combat Correspondent
with the Public Affairs Office at MCRDSD where he wrote articles for the
"Chevron" newspaper and volunteered his time with the base Color Guard and
Ceremonial Details. He also processed thousands of Recruits while serving in
the Recruit Administration Branch (RAB) from November 1998 through June 2000.
Cpl Phillips received orders to Okinawa Japan and after successfully completing
Advanced Clerks Course at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was subsequently
assigned to PSD-18, MACG-18 in September 2000. He was promoted to the rank of
Sergeant in October 2000 and served as the New Joins Chief until he sustained
an ACL injury to his knee while training. After returning from convalescent
leave the PAC had relocated to Camp Butler where he again took the roll of New
Joins Chief. Shortly thereafter, he was chosen to streamline the travel section
where he and his Marines were responsible for correcting and processing over
2,500 travel claims in just four short months.
After Okinawa, Sgt Phillips reported to Consolidated Personnel Administration
Center, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Air Wing in September 2001.
Initially assigned as the Service Record Book Chief for MACG-38, he was
selected to become the Quality Control Chief in February 2002.
In September 2002 Sgt Phillips was
selected to be the Project Officer for a Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF)
sanctioned web program called the Automated Standardized Administrative Program
(ASAP). ASAP revolutionized how leadership was able to access administrative
information on their Marines via a secured web server. Sgt Phillips was
responsible for the security, maintenance and development of this program for
the First Marine Expeditionary Force. Marines now use most of the technology
and functionality originally developed for ASAP in the Marine Corps sanctioned
web based program, Marine Online (MOL).
In June 2003, Sgt Phillips was injured while skydiving sustaining bi-lateral
orthopedic injuries and other traumatic injuries. Sgt Phillips spent six months
on convalescent leave, five of which were in a wheelchair, to recuperate from
the injuries sustained. Upon returning he was chosen to maintain and develop
additional functionality on the 3rd MAW web site until he was then processed
for medical retirement 29 June 2004.
In November 2004, Mr. Phillips started his own web design and development
company, KATLogic Inc, building web sites and providing network support for
small and medium sized businesses in the Redmond, WA area. Subsequently he has
combined his knowledge of Marine Corp processes and how to automate them in
secure web based technologies, starting with www.MyMarineCorpsBall.com.
Mr. Phillips has received various personal, unit and service awards throughout
his career in the Marine Corps.
